Drain Cleaning and Clogged Drain Repair
Clearing a drain is easy. Working out whether it will block again next month is the part that matters.
What is included
Clogged drains, sinks and main lines cleared
- Clearing kitchen, bath, shower, laundry and floor drains
- Cabling main lines and branch lines
- Removing grease, soap and scale build-up from the pipe wall
- Clearing root intrusion where the pipe is otherwise sound
- Camera inspection when a drain keeps coming back
- Fitting or locating a proper cleanout where there is not one
Signs to look for
When a slow drain is a main-line clog
- Water standing in a sink, tub or shower and draining slowly
- The same fixture blocking again within weeks of being cleared
- Gurgling from a tub or floor drain when a toilet is flushed
- More than one fixture backing up at the same time
- Smells coming back up from a drain
- Water rising in the shower when the washing machine empties
Why it happens
Why do drains keep clogging in Lebanon County?
01
Grease and soap on the pipe wall
Kitchen waste cools and deposits on the inside of the pipe, narrowing it over years rather than blocking it in a day. Soap and hair do the same in bathroom lines. This is why a drain gets gradually slower and then suddenly stops.
02
Scale on the pipe wall
Lebanon County sits on limestone, so the water carries a lot of dissolved mineral. That scale roughens the inside of the pipe and gives everything else something to catch on, which is why drains here foul faster than in soft water areas.
03
Roots at a joint
Roots do not break into sound pipe. They find a joint that has already opened or a crack that already exists, usually in older clay or cast iron, and grow toward the moisture. Cutting them out restores flow but leaves the opening.
04
Something structural underneath
A sag holding water, a partial collapse, or an offset joint will catch solids in the same place every time. Any drain that blocks repeatedly in the same spot is telling you the pipe has a defect, not that you are using it wrong.
Our approach
How a clogged drain gets cleared for good
01
Work out how much of the system is affected
One slow fixture is usually local. Several at once, or gurgling in a different room when you flush, points at the main line instead. That distinction decides where the plumber starts and saves opening the wrong thing.
02
Clear it properly
The line gets cabled fully open rather than just poking a hole through the middle of the blockage, which is why a properly cleared drain stays clear far longer than a quick rod.
03
Establish whether it will come back
If a drain has blocked more than once, we will recommend putting a camera down it. Repeat clogs in the same spot are a symptom, and clearing them on a schedule forever takes more visits than fixing the defect once.
04
Tell you what was found
You get a plain description of the condition of the pipe, including when the answer is that it is fine and it was a one-off. We would rather say that than sell a repair nobody needs.
Will this clog come back?
Any plumber can open a blocked drain. The useful question is whether you are going to be making this call again in six weeks, and that is answerable.
A single slow fixture in a house where nothing else is affected is almost always local: grease and soap in the trap or the branch line. Clear it and it stays clear. But when a drain blocks repeatedly in the same place, or when more than one fixture is affected at once, the blockage is a symptom rather than the problem. Something further down is catching material every time.
That distinction decides whether this is a one-off or a call you make every few weeks.

Why drains foul faster in this county
Water here comes out of limestone, which means it carries a lot of dissolved mineral. That scale builds on the inside of the pipe and roughens a surface that should be smooth. Grease, soap and hair then have something to catch on, so a line that would stay clear for a decade elsewhere starts slowing down sooner.
It also means older cast iron in Lebanon city houses is working against two things at once: rust roughening the wall from the metal side, and scale depositing from the water side.

When we will tell you to stop cleaning and start fixing
Once the same line has been cleared twice, we will say so and suggest putting a camera down it before it gets cleared a third time. Recurring blockages in a fixed location mean a sag, an open joint, roots or an offset, and none of those are fixed by cabling.
Clearing it on a schedule forever is not a fix. Sewer line repair covers what the camera shows and what each kind of repair involves.
